Fauci’s “delete this email” orders expose massive COVID coverup, contradicting sworn testimony

  • Fauci ordered colleagues to delete COVID-related emails despite swearing under oath he never obstructed records or FOIA requests.
  • Senator Rand Paul demands Fauci testify under oath, calling his actions a federal crime and part of a vast COVID origins coverup.
  • Emails reveal Fauci’s role in suppressing lab-leak discussions while promoting the natural origin theory through the Proximal Origins paper.
  • Fauci’s NIAID funded risky coronavirus research in Wuhan, contradicting his congressional testimony denying gain-of-function involvement.
  • Legal experts warn Fauci’s 2024 pardon may not shield him from contempt of Congress if he refuses to comply by the September 23 deadline.

The truth about Anthony Fauci’s role in the COVID-19 pandemic just got darker as newly released emails reveal that the former NIAID director repeatedly instructed colleagues to “delete this email after you read it”—directly contradicting his sworn congressional testimony where he denied obstructing records requests. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has now demanded Fauci testify under oath, calling his actions a “blatant violation of federal law” and part of a “vast COVID coverup.”

The emails, obtained through congressional investigations, show Fauci’s deliberate efforts to conceal communications about COVID-19’s origins, gain-of-function research, and the infamous Proximal Origins paper—a key document used to push the natural origin theory while suppressing lab-leak discussions.

One email from February 2, 2020, sent to then-NIH Director Francis Collins, reads: “Please delete this e-mail after you read it.” Another from July 20, 2020, to an NIH staffer, repeats the same instruction after Fauci dismisses Sen. Paul’s criticism as “full of s..t.”

Did Fauci lie under oath?

Fauci’s orders to delete emails directly contradict his June 2024 testimony, where he told Congress under oath that he never deleted an official record and never attempted to obstruct FOIA requests. Yet the evidence suggests otherwise. The emails were sent during critical moments in early 2020, when Fauci and his allies, including Jeremy Farrar of the Wellcome Trust, were coordinating to “get ahead of the science and the narrative” to promote the zoonotic origin theory.

This wasn’t just about hiding inconvenient discussions; it was about controlling the global narrative on COVID-19’s origins. The Proximal Origins paper, published in Nature Medicine in March 2020, became the scientific foundation for dismissing the lab-leak hypothesis, despite private admissions from its co-authors that SARS-CoV-2’s features looked “engineered.” Fauci’s involvement in shaping this paper while simultaneously directing colleagues to destroy records raises serious questions about fraud, obstruction, and the misuse of taxpayer-funded research.

The legal and ethical fallout

Sen. Paul has been relentless in pursuing Fauci, submitting two criminal referrals to the DOJ for perjury and now demanding all communications related to COVID-19, gain-of-function research, and key figures like Peter Daszak (EcoHealth Alliance), Ralph Baric (UNC), and Zhengli Shi (Wuhan Institute of Virology). Fauci has until September 23 to comply or face contempt of Congress proceedings, which could lead to seizure of his devices for forensic examination.

Legal experts say Fauci’s preemptive pardon from Biden in 2024 may not protect him from congressional accountability. “Paul caught Fauci lying under oath before, but there’s zero wriggle room for Fauci this time,” said investigative journalist Paul D. Thacker, a former Senate investigator. Attorney Greg Glaser added that if Fauci refuses to cooperate, Congress could “initiate proceedings to seize his devices and conduct a law enforcement audit.”

A web of lies and dangerous research

Fauci’s deception wasn’t just about hiding emails; it was about covering up U.S. funding of risky coronavirus research in Wuhan. The DEFUSE proposal, submitted by EcoHealth Alliance in 2018, described engineering bat coronaviruses with human-infectious properties—research that mirrors SARS-CoV-2’s unusual features. Though DARPA rejected the proposal, Fauci’s NIAID funneled millions to the Wuhan lab through other channels, including $600,000 to EcoHealth Alliance for bat coronavirus studies.

When questioned in 2021, Fauci insisted the NIH “never funded gain-of-function research” in Wuhan—a claim directly contradicted by grant documents and his own emails. His 100+ “I don’t recall” responses during a 2023 closed-door interview only deepened suspicions. Now, with Morens (Fauci’s senior adviser) admitting he learned “how to make emails disappear”, the pattern of obstruction is undeniable.

A reckoning is coming

Sen. Paul’s investigation isn’t just about Fauci’s lies. It’s about holding the entire biomedical-industrial complex accountable. The NIH recently shut down a Fauci-established research center, and President Trump ended U.S. funding for gain-of-function research in China. Paul has also introduced bills to ban risky virology experiments and reform the NIH to prevent future abuses.

Yet the damage is already done. Millions of lives were disrupted, economies shattered, and freedoms erased—all based on narratives Fauci helped manufacture. His “delete this email” orders weren’t just bureaucratic carelessness; they were part of a calculated effort to hide the truth from the American people.

Fauci’s September 23 deadline is fast approaching. Will he finally come clean, or will he double down on deception? For years, Fauci played god with public health, funded dangerous research, and lied under oath, all while profiting from the chaos. Now, the walls are closing in. And if justice prevails, this time, he won’t escape accountability.
